Designing a float tank on a computer screen is easy. Running it in a commercial environment with guests is something else entirely. We know, because we do both.
At Restingwell, we don’t just build float tanks. Since 2011, we have operated our own professional float center, Wellrest, located in the deep, peaceful forests of Småland, Sweden. This is our active testing ground, and it is the exact reason why the Spirit tank outperforms the competition in reliability and ease of use.
This is a core part of who we are — and the reason the Spirit float tanks are built differently.
Running float sessions week after week gives us something most manufacturers don’t have: daily operational insight.
We work with:
- real guests
- real cleaning routines
- real water management
- real maintenance challenges
That experience shapes every design decision we make.

Why operational experience matters
When we first started in the floatation industry over 20 years ago, we noticed major flaws in traditional “pod” designs. They looked futuristic, but they were a nightmare to operate daily.
Because we operate our own center, we understand:
- Guests felt claustrophobic and struggled to climb in and out.
- Saltwater quickly destroyed hidden, fragile electronics.
- Daily cleaning and filter changes were physically exhausting for staff.
We realized that to offer the ultimate REST therapy experience, we had to build a machine that was designed for the owner as much as the guest.

Stefan Gerleman founded Restingwell in 2004 in Vaggeryd, Sweden, with a single mission: to make float therapy accessible, safe, and welcoming for everyone—especially those suffering from chronic pain or claustrophobia. With over two decades of hands-on experience in float tank engineering, Stefan’s designs prioritize human comfort and effortless maintenance. Today, his Swedish-crafted tanks are the leading choice in the Nordic region and are trusted by wellness centers and clinical researchers across Europe.
Tested in reality, not only in theory
Before any new feature, filter, or component is added to the Restingwell Spirit tank, it is rigorously tested at our own facility. Running float sessions week after week gives us the insights that pure manufacturing companies simply lack.
We understand exactly:
- How to make turnaround times between sessions faster.
- Where to place the filtration unit for ergonomic, strain-free access.
- Why stable water temperature is critical for deep relaxation.
- Which components actually survive years of Epsom salt exposure—and which do not.
If a design choice complicates daily work or increases maintenance, it never makes it into our production.
Our own Float Center: Wellrest Floatingcenter – Where the Spirit Float Tank is truly tested

For over 15 years, our center Wellrest has welcomed thousands of guests seeking relief from stress and pain. Nestled between Jönköping and Vaggeryd—in the magical region that inspired Astrid Lindgren’s beloved stories—it provides the perfect setting for deep relaxation.
But Wellrest is far more than a beautiful showroom. It is our laboratory. Every single session helps us refine the Spirit tank, ensuring that when you install one in your spa or clinic, you are getting a machine perfected by reality.
