Welcome to our complete float tank operator FAQ. If you are planning to run a commercial center, everything you need to know about installation, daily maintenance, and technical requirements for the Restingwell Spirit is answered right here.
Installation & Space Requirements
The Spirit float tank is designed to fit into a standard treatment room. You need enough space for the tank a shower, and a small area for the guest to change. No separate pump room is required.
The Spirit Float Tank measures 2.60 m in length and 1.60 m in width. A minimum room size of 3.00 m × 2.40 m is required, with additional space planned for the shower.
Thanks to our modular Scandinavian design, most installations take just 1.5 to 2 hours. It can be handled by two people or a local handyman.
For electricity you need: A standard 230V, 10 A single-phase
Hygiene & Maintenance
Hygiene is a top priority in professional float tanks.
Every guest is required to shower before their float session, ensuring they enter the tank completely clean.
Between every session, the entire volume of water is circulated multiple times through a high-performance filtration system.
- One-Touch Operation: Your staff simply presses a single button to initiate the filtration cycle. It’s a foolproof routine that ensures consistent water quality every time.
- Mechanical Filtration: To remove any physical particles.
- UV-C Sterilization: To eliminate bacteria and viruses instantly.
- Natural Sanitization: The high concentration of Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate) creates an environment where most microorganisms cannot survive.
In addition, hydrogen peroxide is used as a safe, effective, and easy-to-handle bactericidal agent, providing an extra layer of hygiene and water clarity.
Managing the water in a Spirit tank is straightforward and designed for daily operational efficiency:
Your Choice of Tools: While we provide a proven manual system, the Spirit is “open.” If you prefer using digital pH meters or automated dosing systems, they are easy to integrate. We don’t lock you into expensive, proprietary testing kits.
Clear Visibility: A professional thermometer is mounted directly on the wall (part of the external control cabinet). This allows your staff to verify the perfect floating temperature (~34.8°C) at a single glance without even opening the tank.
Simple Testing: We recommend using high-quality test strips to check pH and salt levels. It takes less than a minute and is a reliable, low-cost method for daily checks.
Cleaning is intentionally simple and takes just a few minutes. We’ve designed the Spirit to be the most ergonomic tank on the market:
- Ergonomic Working Height: Unlike other tanks where pumps and filters are hidden at floor level, the Spirit’s filtration unit and pump are located on the short side of the tank at perfect working height.
- No Heavy Lifting: Checking or changing the filter is fast and comfortable—no need to bend over awkwardly or crawl on the floor.
- Side-Entry Access: The wide side-door allows your staff to wipe down the interior surfaces easily without having to lean deep into a “pod” or climb inside.
- Daily Routine: A quick visual inspection, surface wipe, and a filter check are all that’s needed to keep the unit in top condition.
Because of the powerful combination of UV-C sterilization, mechanical filtration, and the high concentration of Epsom salt, you do not need to change the water between guests. With simple daily monitoring of pH and salt levels, the same water stays crystal clear and hygienic for a very long period, significantly reducing your water and salt costs.
Float Tank Operator FAQ: Operations & Cost
Yes, absolutely. We have designed the Spirit for “One-Man Operation.” Because the filtration cycle starts with a single button press and all service points (pump/filter) are at ergonomic working height on the short side of the tank, one staff member can easily manage the cleaning and preparation between sessions while also handling reception duties.
No. When you buy a Restingwell Spirit, you own it. There are no hidden “cloud fees,” subscription traps, or mandatory paid software updates.

Electricity: Thanks to our superior double-walled insulation, energy consumption is kept to a minimum. The heaters only kick in briefly to maintain the temperature.
Epsom Salt: You only need to top up the salt levels occasionally as water is lost through evaporation or when guests exit the tank.
Filters: The mechanical filters are affordable and easy to replace.
No. Unlike many pods or open rooms, the Spirit features advanced double-walled insulation. Even with the power off, the water temperature only drops ~3°C over 18 hours. You save money on electricity and your staff avoids the hassle of messy, unhygienic covers.
